Film on sensational Rifat murder case to hit theatres in Dec
The much-anticipated film "Poran" is set to release this December, confirms the film's director, Raihan Rafi. It is based on the gruesome Rifat murder that happened on June 26, 2019 in front of Barguna Government College.
The teaser of the film, which was released on February 2, 2020, had given way to much discussion regarding this film.
"The film will be going to the Censor Board next week," informs Rafi. "We are planning to release the film end of December this year."
Featuring Yash Rohan, Bidya Sinha Mim and Shariful Razz in the lead roles, the story revolves around the incident when Rifat Sharif and his wife Ayesha Siddika Minni became victims of a gruesome attack in Barguna.
After a two-month long police investigation, the charge-sheet of the case was filed. The case became a national sensation overnight, when Minni was convicted of being the "mastermind" behind the murder.
Ultimately, Minni and 5 others were sentenced to death in 2020.
Shooting of this film had finished in 2019, but the theatrical release was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Raihan Rafi is currently busy with his upcoming OTT project. "I look to release my web film in the next couple of weeks, and the audience will soon know more about it," he shared.
The filmmaker is also looking to release "Damal" and "Noor" next year. "We have already finished shooting for the first lot with Arifin Shuvoo and Jannatul Ferdous Oishee, and will start shooting for the second from Oct 11," mentions Raihan Rafi.
