Kareena Kapoor emphasises talent over looks in achieving stardom
Renowned Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan has recently highlighted the evolving definition of stardom in the film industry, emphasising that talent and connection with audiences play a pivotal role in an actor's success rather than just physical appearance.
In an interview with Film Companion, Kareena expressed her belief that genuine talent and the ability to connect with viewers are significant determinants of stardom. She conveyed her thoughts on the superficiality of relying solely on physical attributes, mentioning, "It is not like, 'Oh he has got six-pack abs, he is looking so hot, he is a big star.' Arree please yaar! Sometimes, I feel like telling those actors, 'Please wear your T-shirt first. I can't even look at you.'"
The actress acknowledged the transformation in the industry from the era of her grandfather Raj Kapoor, uncle Rishi Kapoor, and father Randhir Kapoor, emphasising that in today's scenario, longevity in the industry is more dependent on acting prowess. "Now, if you are a good actor, you are going to survive a long time," Kareena noted.
Kareena Kapoor's performance in the Netflix film "Jaane Jaan" as a single mother received positive reviews. Despite critical acclaim, she shared encountering criticism from some who questioned her choice of portraying a darker role.
The talented actress is set to appear as a detective in Hansal Mehta's "The Buckingham Murders", alongside Ash Tandon, Ranveer Brar, and Keith Allen. Additionally, Kareena has Rohit Shetty's "Singham Again" lined up in her upcoming projects.
