IIFA 2025: Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan's friendly hug breaks the internet

Fans of "Jab We Met" received an unexpected treat at the IIFA 2025 press conference in Jaipur on Saturday. Celebrities gathered in the city to commemorate the award show's 25th anniversary.
After seemingly years of no interaction, former co-stars and ex-partners Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan were seen exchanging pleasantries at the event. Kareena later joined Shahid on stage, where they shared smiles and warmly hugged. The duo then conversed with director-producer Karan Johar and actor Kartik Aaryan before posing for photos together.
While their unexpected interaction delighted fans, Shahid Kapoor, known for "Kabir Singh", saw it as a completely normal moment with Kareena Kapoor.
While speaking to the media on the green carpet at the IIFA Digital Awards, Shahid Kapoor briefly commented on his reunion with Kareena when asked about it. He stated, "For us, it's nothing new… we simply met and interacted on stage today, but we often cross paths here and there. It's completely normal for us. If people enjoyed it, that's great."
Fans were amazed by Shahid and Kareena's unexpectedly cordial interaction, with many commenting on their evolved dynamic. Some reactions included: "During the Udta Punjab days, they couldn't even stand next to each other—it took them nine years to reach this point, lol." Another wrote, "Wow, I never expected them to talk so nicely." A third individual noted, "Both have moved on… good to see," while someone said, "Oh wow, how did Shahid become so comfortable with Kareena? But it's a pleasant change from his past awkwardness."
Shahid and Kareena were in a relationship in the early 2000s before parting ways in 2007. They have shared the screen in films such as "Fida" (2004), "Chup Chup Ke" (2006), "Udta Punjab" (2016), and the 2007 blockbuster "Jab We Met".
Kareena wed actor Saif Ali Khan in 2012, while Shahid married Mira Rajput in 2015. Both couples are happily married with their spouses and are also parents to children.
