Between homecomings and holidays abroad: Celebrities celebrate Eid
For celebrities, Eid often arrives in the middle of packed shooting schedules, stage performances, and nonstop professional commitments. Yet when the festive holidays finally begin, many of them choose to step away from the spotlight and return to what matters most — family, home, and cherished memories. This year, while some stars are celebrating Eid abroad, others have travelled back to their hometowns to reunite with loved ones and enjoy a rare moment of peace away from work.
For celebrated singer Fahmida Nabi, this year’s Eid is being spent far away from home in the United States, where she recently travelled. Despite being overseas, her heart remains firmly tied to Bangladesh.
“Even though I am abroad during Eid, my heart is still rooted in my homeland,” she shared. “I am missing my loved ones dearly during this festive season. Eid greetings to everyone — may everyone have a wonderful Eid.”
Actor Shajal Noor is also celebrating Eid in the United States. Although he has spent most Eids in Bangladesh throughout his career, this year’s festivities are unfolding far from home.
“Home always comes first,” he said emotionally. “I am missing my parents the most. I am also missing the people close to me back in Bangladesh.”
Popular actor Ziaul Faruq Apurba is likewise spending the Eid holidays in America this year.
Meanwhile, acclaimed actor Fazlur Rahman Babu has returned to his hometown of Faridpur for the holidays. Every Eid, he makes it a point to go back to his family home, continuing a tradition that remains close to his heart.
“I always feel happiest spending Eid at my own home,” he said. “I get to meet familiar faces and spend quality time with everyone.”
Veteran film star Nayeem, who rose to fame during the 1990s, is currently in Dhaka but may travel to his ancestral home in Tangail during the holidays.
“I enjoy spending Eid with my family the most,” he said. “I like giving time to my loved ones.”
Television favourite Zahid Hasan is also staying in Dhaka this Eid. However, he reflected fondly on the days when his parents were alive and Eid meant travelling back to Sirajganj.
“I’m in Dhaka this Eid,” he said. “May Eid bring happiness and peace for everyone. May the joy of Eid belong to all.”
Another familiar face from the golden era of television drama, Azizul Hakim, is spending the holidays in the capital with family, although a visit to Rajbari remains a possibility.
“I truly enjoy the Eid holidays,” he said. “There’s no pressure of work and I can spend proper leisure time with my family. If time permits, I may travel outside Dhaka as well.”
Actress Tanzika Amin has travelled to her hometown in Rajshahi, where she plans to spend several peaceful days with her parents.
“Rajshahi is my home, and returning there always brings a different kind of peace and happiness,” she said. “I will celebrate Eid here and spend meaningful time with my parents.”
Actress Sumaiya Shimu is celebrating Eid in Dhaka with her family and children.
“May Eid bring joy to everyone,” she said. “I will spend the holidays with my two children and the entire family. To be honest, the real excitement of Eid belonged to childhood. Now, I experience that joy again through my children.”
Whether near or far, at home or abroad, the spirit of Eid continues to unite these stars through memories, family bonds, and the timeless comfort of loved ones.
