Hridoy Khan returns to acting, makes directorial debut with ‘Trapped’

By Arts & Entertainment Desk

As musician Hridoy Khan won hearts with multiple songs in his long career. He made his acting debut in 2016 through a television project directed by Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Raz. The singer turned actor has returned to acting after a long hiatus — this time wearing multiple hats.

Hridoy has directed and acted in the short film "Trapped", marking his debut as a filmmaker. The 28-minute-35-second mystery drama also stars Mozeza Ashraf Monalisa, once a prominent face on television and in commercials, who makes her acting comeback through this project.

Set in New York City, "Trapped" weaves together elements of romance and thriller, centring on a young man named Hridoy who becomes entangled with the underworld. Despite repeated attempts to escape the web he is caught in, he ultimately finds himself unable to break free.

Sharing glimpses from the film on his social media, Hridoy Khan wrote: "Freedom is a cruel thing when the wrong people offer it to you #Trapped #ShortFilm OUT NOW ON YOUTUBE."

Interestingly, Hridoy first announced the short film back in 2020 while releasing a song. However, the project took nearly six years to reach completion. "Trapped" is now available on Hridoy Khan's official YouTube channel.

Alongside Hridoy Khan and Monalisa, the short film features several local New York-based artistes. With this project, Hridoy officially marks his return to acting after a long break, while Monalisa also steps back in front of the camera following an extended absence from the screen.
