Actor Rashed Mamun Apu, whose films "Daagi" and "Jongli" hit theatres this Eid, described the festive season as a significant milestone for Bangladeshi cinema.

In a conversation with The Daily Star, Apu noted that it had been a long time since audiences witnessed such vibrant and healthy competition among quality films during Eid. 

"Each film released this season is well-executed, and viewers are responding with genuine enthusiasm. It's a promising sign for our film industry," he said.

Apu, who is contesting for the post of General Secretary in the upcoming Actors' Association election scheduled for April 19, added that the polls would reflect a celebration of participation. Looking back on his previous term, he noted, "We gave our best effort; now the members will decide."
