‘Delupi’ trailer unveils tale of love, politics, and resilience rooted in rural Khulna

From its title reveal to its release announcement, "Delupi" has captured attention with its refreshing sense of authenticity. Continuing that streak, the film's official trailer dropped today, offering a glimpse into a raw and heartfelt portrayal of life in rural Khulna.

Running for nearly two minutes, the trailer paints an evocative picture of a riverine community — interweaving themes of politics, love, natural calamities, and the perseverance of jatra artistes. Beneath it all lies a story of transformation, struggle, and hope.

Set for release in Khulna on November 7 and nationwide on November 14 — including major theatres in Dhaka — "Delupi" marks the directorial debut of Mohammad Touqir Islam. Known for his deep commitment to local storytelling, Touqir brings an unfiltered realism to his work, choosing to collaborate almost entirely with local talents.

"I've always wanted to tell stories about ordinary people, their emotions, their battles, their dreams," said the director. "I strive to portray their lives alongside them, not as an outsider. Working with local actors is an essential part of that process, and 'Delupi' is no exception."

The film's cast — hailing from different unions of Khulna — includes Chiranjit Biswas, Aditi Roy, Rudra Roy, and Md Zakir Hossain.

Chiranjit Biswas, who plays Partho, shared, "I'm truly delighted to have worked in 'Delupi'. This project helped me grow immensely as an actor. Since it's my first film, the support from everyone, from the director to the production team, meant the world to me."

Aditi Roy, who portrays Nupur, echoed similar sentiments. "Before this, I performed in traditional jatra theatre, so transitioning to film was a big learning curve," she said. "Seeing myself on the big screen feels like a dream come true. I always wished people would see me on television someday — I never imagined it would happen through cinema."

With its earthy storytelling, authentic performances, and emotional depth, Delupi promises to be more than just a film — it's a window into the heartbeat of rural Bangladesh. The team has extended a heartfelt invitation to audiences across the country to experience "Delupi" in theatres this November.
