Crime drama ‘Adolescence’ takes Netflix by storm

Netflix's latest crime drama "Adolescence" has skyrocketed to the top of the platform's charts, reaching an impressive 24.3 million views within just four days of its release on March 13. The gripping limited series has quickly become the most-watched show of the week, as reported by Netflix Tudum.
The show's soaring popularity is due to the breakout performance of 15-year-old British actor Owen Cooper. His portrayal of the troubled protagonist Jamie Miller has captivated audiences. Social media erupted with praise for the young star, hailing his performance as one of the most compelling in recent crime drama history.
"Adolescence" follows the journey of 13-year-old Jamie Miller, who finds himself at the centre of a murder investigation after being accused of killing his classmate Katie. Despite his pleas of innocence, authorities build a strong case against him, resulting in him and his family being ostracised. The show's intense narrative, coupled with its raw emotional depth, has struck a chord with viewers, contributing to its rise in popularity.
The series boasts an ensemble cast featuring Stephen Graham, Ashley Walters, Erin Doherty, Faye Marsay, Christine Tremarco, and Mark Stanley. Adding to its cinematic distinction, cinematographer Matthew Lewis filmed each of the four episodes in a single continuous take, creating an immersive and gripping storytelling experience.
Moreover, debutant Owen Cooper is already preparing for his next major role in "Wuthering Heights", an upcoming adaptation by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Emerald Fennell. The highly anticipated film is set for release in 2026.
