Young artist Khing Shai Mong Marma, who has long been engaged in artistic practice and has participated in numerous group exhibitions at home and abroad, is set to inaugurate his first solo painting exhibition, titled "Rowa Daw," in Bandarban on Friday at 4 pm.

The four day exhibition will showcase 32 artworks of varying sizes, created in watercolour, oil, and charcoal, and will run from December 20 to 22.

The inauguration ceremony will be attended by noted art patron Brigadier General S M Raquib Ibne Rezwan, AFWC, PSC, Honourable Commander of the 69 Infantry Brigade and Region Commander, Bandarban Region, as the chief guest.

Other distinguished guests include Md Abdur Rahman, Superintendent of Police, Bandarban; Professor Dr Bazlur Rashid Khan (Rashid Amin), Chairman of the Department of Printmaking at Jagannath University, Dhaka; and Professor Md Anisuzzaman of the Department of Printmaking at the University of Dhaka.

Born and raised in Bandarban, Khing Shai Mong shares a deep connection with the region's people, land, and natural landscape. The foundation of his artistic journey began there, with the local environment, daily life, and communities continuing to serve as key sources of inspiration. At a time when many artists choose to debut their solo shows in the capital or abroad, Khing's decision to hold his first exhibition in his birthplace reflects his strong attachment to his roots.

The exhibition features landscapes, portraits, and depictions of life and livelihood in Bandarban, presented both directly and metaphorically. Executed in a realistic style, the works highlight the artist's technical skill alongside his emotional bond with the region.

Khing Shai Mong has invited art lovers, patrons, members of civil society, and residents of Bandarban to visit the exhibition. He has also encouraged families to allow their children to take part in a children's drawing session scheduled for December 20. The artist expressed his gratitude to all patrons, supporters, and collaborators who helped make the exhibition possible.
