Shironamhin releases collector’s edition book with latest album
On Sunday, Ekushey Boi Mela was witness to a crowd that did not solely comprise of book lovers. Surprisingly, many music enthusiasts were also there, eagerly waiting for Shironamhin's arrival.
At around 5 pm, music lovers flocked to the stall of Shikha Prokash, where the seventh album of renowned band Shironamhin was unveiled along with a meet and greet session with the band.
Titled "The Only Headliner", the album was released along with a collector's edition book. Consisting of 128 four-colour pages, the book is filled with the stories behind the songs, untold experiences, struggles and rare photographs.
One can listen to the songs by scanning the QR codes with their phones, while simultaneously reading the lyrics and their meaning from the book. "The Only Headliner" contains twenty songs that were recorded live, featuring orchestral arrangements.
Ziaur Rahman Zia, the band leader and bassist of Shironamhin, considers the most unique thing about the album to be its ability to transfer the band's experience to the audience—in an artistic form, while also letting them enjoy the band's music in various arrangements.
Speaking to The Daily Star, Zia said, "For years, I thought about what is it that we actually miss about traditional album releases? It's not the cassette or CD formats, rather the experience we, as an audience, had back in those days. Along with every album's physical release, we would have the lyrics, information, satisfaction of collection and the sense of ownership that came with it. And that is what the band wanted to give the audience through this new approach."
Zia also added that the book contains enriched information and rare candid photos of the band that people have never seen before, giving collectors a proper sense of ownership.
The work for this album began almost one and half years ago. At one point, Shironamhin even rejected over a thousand copies of the book, simply because the prints were not satisfactory.
Shironamhin hopes to publish more copies of the collector's edition book as soon as the first print-run is out of stock.
Currently, the book is available at a discounted price of BDT 450. It is available at the stall of Shikha Prokash and can be purchased online from Rokomari.
