Shehan Karunatilaka, Daisy Rockwell and Geetanjali Shree to speak at the 10th Dhaka Lit Fest
The winners of the 2022 Booker Prize and the 2022 International Booker Prize—Shehan Karunatilaka, Daisy Rockwell and Geetanjali Shree—will be speaking at the 10th Dhaka Literary Festival, the organisers of the event announced on December 13, Tuesday.
Shehan Karunatilaka won this year's Booker Prize for his book The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida (Sort of Books, 2022), a story set in the Sri-Lankan Civil War that features elements of magical realism.
Writer Geetanjali Shree and translator Daisy Rockwell won the International Booker Prize for the translation of Shree's Hindi novel Ret Samadhi (Rajkamal Prakashan, 2018), which was published in English as Tomb of Sand (Tilted Axis Press, 2021).
Additionally, the event will feature the Nobel Laureates Orhan Pamuk and Abdulrazak Gurnah, as well as leading local authors like Anisul Hoque, Mashrur Arefin, and Zafar Iqbal.
