No existence of IS in country: Home boss
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan today reiterated there is no organisational existence of terrorist outfit Islamic State (IS) in Bangladesh.
They who are militants – are all JMB, Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) – surfacing under different names, he said, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
His comments come a day after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said of international pressure groups trying to make the government admit presence of IS in country.
These follow reports that the terrorist outfit has made Bangladesh its operating ground, and, in a recent article claiming of having a regional leader in the country.
Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir are patronising these activities, Khan told at a view exchange programme with reporters at his office.
Responding to a query he said, “I can say they are all the fruits of the same tree.”
Kamal said he has called upon finance ministry and Bangladesh Bank to find out the source of income of the militant organisations. “We are initiating steps against them.”
