SCBA election: pro-AL lawyer elected president

Pro-BNP lawyer wins secretary post

The ruling Awami League-backed panel has won six posts including that of the president out of 14 posts in the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) election.

The BNP-backed panel won eight posts including that of secretary.

The result was published this morning following the two-day SCBA election that ended yesterday.

SCBA incumbent president advocate AM Amin Uddin, member of Bangabandhu Ainjibi Parishad, secured the president post while BNP-backed panel Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum candidate barrister Md Ruhul Quddus Kajol secured the post of secretary.

The pro-AL candidates who won six posts are -- Md Moniruzzaman (vice-president); Md Bakir Uddin Bhuiyan (assistant secretary); Md Imtiaz Farooque (assistant secretary); Md Humayun Kabir (executive member); and Md Mashiur Rahman, (executive member).

Seven pro-BNP-backed candidates who are elected are -- Md Abdul Zabbar Bhuiyan (vice-president); Ragib Rauf Chowdhury (treasurer); Mar-E-Um Khandakar (executive member); Amirul Islam Khokon (executive member); Md Mohaddesh-Ul-Islam Tutul (executive member); Md Mohsin Kabir (executive member); and Md Saifuddin Mohammed Ratan (executive member).
