Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said instant and proper measures taken by the Bangladesh Bank after the heist from its fund with Federal Reserve Bank of New York prevented hacking of a larger sum of money.

In a scripted reply at the parliament, she said that the heist of US$101 million the affected the country's economy only temporarily.

BB has already got assurance on return of a portion of the stolen money from the Philippines, she pointed out. "We hope to get back the rest of the money through legal process."

The incident will not affect the country's economy in the long run. It will not hamper the monetary policy of the country either, said the PM.

In a written question, an MP of the ruling Awami League asked if the government was taking any measures to maintain law and order of the country and control criminal activities.

In reply, the PM said the law and order of the country is congenial now due to the government's various measures.

That is why foreign investment of the country is increasing and the country is moving forward, she said, adding that the base of the economy is getting stronger.
