HC rejects plea seeking medical admission retake

The High Court today rejected a writ petition seeking order on the government to scrap the medical and dental admission tests held on Friday.

The High Court bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice JN Deb Choudhury passed the order after hearing arguments from Attorney General Mahbubey Alam.

The attorney general told The Daily Star that there is no legal bar for the authorities concern to admit the students who passed in the medical and dental admission tests following the order.

During hearing, he told the court an investigation will be conducted on the allegations of question paper leak.

Those found involved in the alleged leak and passed with the help of leaked question papers – they will be dropped from admission, he said.

The result of thousand of successful students cannot be cancelled if few students pass on the leaked question paper, he added.

Yesterday, Supreme Court lawyer Eunus Ali Akond filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking its directive on the government to cancel the medical entrance test and hold a fresh exam.

The petitioner, Eunus Ali Akond, also prayed to the court to order a judicial inquiry into the allegation and action against the director general of the DGHS and the director concerned.
