5 ‘kidnappers’ held in Dhaka, 1 rescued
Law enforcers arrested five alleged kidnappers in Tejgaon area of Dhaka last night and rescued a person, who was abducted earlier.
The kidnappers said to have included two former military men, what police said.
They were identified as: Abdul Gofur, Golam Mohammad Chowdhury, Md Ajad Hossain alias Rokon, Shohanoor Alam and Sanaullah. The victim rescued was Mokhlesur Rahman.
Adabor police raided different parts of the capital last night and made the detentions, said Biplab Kumar Sarkar, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Tejgaon division).
Victim Mokhlesur Rahman was kidnapped by Abdul Gofur, also his business partner, from the city's Adabor area on June 25, DC Biplab later said in a press briefing.
Family of the victim filed a lawsuit with Adabor Police Station after receiving calls demanding ransom worth Tk 30 lakh – to be transferred by bKash.
Police used trackers to crack down on the location of the hostage. "Mokhlesur was being held at a house in Fulbaria area of Turag," the police official said.
Besides, police also arrested two alleged muggers and a robber during the drive, he said.
