3 indicted for 13-yr-old Rakib murder
A Khulna court today framed charges against three accused of killing 13-year-old boy Rakib.
Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court also fixed October 11 for the next hearing. Jude (in-charge) Dilruba said the hearing will continue for five days at a stretch, reports the Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
The accused -- Omar Sharif, owner of a motorcycle garage, his mother Beauty Begum and his associate Mintu Khan – were present at the court during the day's proceedings.
Earlier on September 6, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Faruk Iqbal sent the case to the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court of the district for its trial after taking the charges into cognisance.
On August 3, Rakib, who used to work at a motorcycle garage at Tutpara Central Road in Khulna city, was tortured to death allegedly by his former employer over quitting job.
The three accused allegedly pumped air into his body through his rectum because of quitting job at Sharif's garage.
Alam Haldar, victim's father, filed a case with Sadar Police Station against three people -- Sharif, Mintu and Beauty Begum -- after the brutal killing.
On August 25, Kazi Mostaque Ahmed, a sub-inspector of Khulna Sadar Police Station who is also investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet before the court.
All the accused gave their confessional statements before the court under 164.
