Mango orchard caretaker arrested for alleged rape of schoolboy in Kushtia
Police have arrested a caretaker of a mango orchard in Kushtia, for allegedly raping a fourth grade schoolboy when the child entered the orchard to pick mangoes.
The accused Wahed Ali, 50, was arrested today, and later in the day a court sent him to jail.
The alleged incident occurred on Sunday morning.
Locals said the boy had gone to the field with goats and later entered the orchard to collect mangoes, where the accused reportedly raped him.
The boy later narrated the incident to his mother.
Local influential figures attempted to settle the matter through a village arbitration. However, the police rushed to the village after receiving information and foiled the arbitration.
Following this, the victim’s father filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act at Kumarkhali Police Station on Monday night.
