Newborn survives 6-storey fall
A newborn baby boy has survived a six-storey fall after he was allegedly dropped from a flat by his mother at Baily Road in Dhaka.
A teenage girl, who works as a housemaid for an elderly couple in the capital’s Baily Road area, today gave birth to the boy out of wedlock, said Moshiure Rahman, officer-in-charge of Ramna Police Station.

The official added that the girl allegedly dropped the baby through the window of the flat, wrapping him in a plastic shopping bag.
The baby miraculously survived after falling on the rooftop of a nearby tin-shed building.
Hearing his screams, local shopkeepers rescued the boy and rushed him to Ad-din Women's Medical College Hospital in Moghbazar with support from law enforcers, the police official also said.
A video filming the rescue of the baby floated in the social media, causing an outcry.
Later, police visited the spot and took the mother to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for treatment.
The unmarried teenage girl allegedly became pregnant by her brother-in-law when she was visiting his house in Comilla, the OC said quoting the girl.
“We are investigating the matter,” the police officer told The Daily Star.
