Mob beat 4 robbers to death in Chapainawabganj

Four alleged robbers were beaten to death by a mob in Mokrompur Bridge area of Gomostapur upazila in Chapainawabganj this evening.

A motorcyclist was intercepted on Kansat-Choudala road by 10 to 12 robbers around 7:30pm. After the motorcyclist shouted for help, locals came forward and caught four robbers, beating and injuring them seriously, Firoj Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Gomostapur Police Station, told our correspondent.

Receiving information, police went to the spot and rushed them to Gomostapur upazila health complex in critical conditions, where on duty doctors declared three of them dead. Another robber died at the health complex later around 9:00 pm, the police official also said.

Police recovered sharp weapons from the spot, he added.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
