Man killed in Satkania polls clash
A man was killed today when supporters of two councillor candidates traded gunshots in Satkania upazila of Chittagong, police said.
The deceased was identified as Nurul Amin, of Boaliapara area in the upazila, reports our Chittagong correspondent quoting Fariduddin Khan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Satkania Police Station.

The followers of the councillor aspirants Abdul Halim and Mozammel Haque alias Bhola clashed near Satkania Govt polling centre over taking possession of the station around 11:00am, the OC told our Chittagong correspondent.

At one state, both the factions traded gunshots leaving Amin, a shopkeeper, bullet wounded. He was rushed to Satkania upazila health complex in critical condition where he succumbed, the police official said.

Victim’s cousin Abul Alim said that Nurul Amin came to his village home to cast his vote from Maheshkhali in Cox’s Bazar where he ran a business.“Amin had no affiliation with any political party,” he said.
Meanwhile, claiming Amin as a leader of Jubo Dal, a youth front of opposition BNP, the party alleged that Amin was killed in a gun attack by Bangladesh Chhatra League, student wing of ruling Awami League.
