Human trafficker held in Moheshkhali

Police arrested a ringleader of human trafficking gang with arms in Moheshkhali upazila of Cox's Bazar.

The arrestee, Momtaz Mia alias Momtaz Majhi, 60, hailed from Tajiakata village, reports our district correspondent.

Being tipped-off, police conducted a drive at Chaliatali village of Kalamarchhora union in the upazila early today and detained Momtaz with a local gun and two rounds of bullets, said Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Moheshkhali Police Station.

He has been sued under the arms act, the police official said, adding that human trafficker Momtaz is accused in six different cases in connection with human trafficking.
