Digital wireless communication system for police: Minister
State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today told the parliament that the government has taken projects to bring the police department under digital wireless communication system.
“Dhaka, Rajshahi and Sylhet divisions have already been brought under digital wireless communication system,” Khan said while replying to lawmakers’ queries.
In a scripted reply, the state minister said police department has also launched the digital wireless communication system in Rangpur and Gaibandha districts on trial basis.
Besides, initiatives are underway for procuring eight Channel Trunking System equipment aimed at modernising the Chittagong Metropolitan Police wireless communication system, he added.
Kamal informed parliament that the government is working to bring two more divisions under digital wireless communication system in the current financial year.
“We have also plans to install digital wireless communication systems in all divisions and units of the police department,” he added.
Kamal also said the government has installed computers having internet facility at 43 wireless units out of 64 districts and six metropolitan units of Bangladesh Police for sending messages through e-mail instead of voice communications.
“The installation of computers with internet facilities at the rest of 27 units is underway,” he added.
