Biman suspends 3 others over faulty aircraft door
Three more Biman officials including a captain and a first officer were grounded in connection with the damage of a gate of Muscat-bound flight at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong on Saturday.
With Sunday’s three suspension, a total of seven officials and staff of the airlines have been suspended so far in this connection.
The gate of BG 123 flight was damaged as a pushcart pushed the aircraft before the boarding bridge was removed. Due to the damage, the gate could not be shut despite efforts and the flight was cancelled.
The flight that was supposed to take off at 8:30am on Saturday failed to fly owing to the technical fault, said Biman officials.
Later, its passengers flew to Muscat by another aircraft at 2:25pm, they added.
Biman, in a press release today, said departmental action was taken against seven Biman staff. They are, the captain of the flight, first officer, chief purser, a flight stewardess, a flight steward, a junior technician and a senior operator of Ground Service Equipment (GSE) department.
An inquiry committee was formed to investigate into the incident, it said adding that action would be taken against them after receiving the probe report.
