Bangladesh Hajj death toll now 43
Death toll of Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims from the Mina stampede went up to 43, while 92 more are undergoing treatment, officials say.
Besides, 132 Bangladeshis are still missing, Shahidul Karim, consul general of Bangladesh Consulate at Jeddah, told The Daily Star today.
The official death toll of the Hajj stampede which took place on September 24 is 769. However, many diplomats fear that the toll might exceed a thousand.
The foreign ministry statement said Saudi authorities would release details of the as yet unidentified pilgrims once their fingerprints records were verified.
Iran has been most vocal about its citizens since the beginning.
Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei blamed Saudi Arabia for the stampede incident and demanded apology from the Saudis.
