5 get posting as acting secretary
The government today appointed five acting secretaries to different ministries and divisions to fill the vacant positions.
The posts remained vacant for the last several weeks as the government did not appoint anyone against the positions which many bureaucrats termed unusual.
Additional Secretary of Local Government Division Ashok Madhob Roy has been made acting secretary to the shipping ministry while Kazi Akhtar Uddin Ahmed, director general of Bangladesh Betar, has been made acting secretary to the ministry of youth and sports.
Ahmed Hossain Khan, chairman of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation has been made acting member of the planning commission with the status of acting secretary.
Mohammad Nurunnabi Talukder, director general of NGO affairs bureau, has been appointed as acting secretary of Public Service Commission and Begum Shahin Khan, chairman of Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization, has been made acting member of Privatization Commission with the status of acting secretary, says a press release of the public administration ministry.
Sources said posts of PSC secretary, planning commission and privatisation commission member, youth and sports secretary had been vacant between October 21 and November 15 while the post of shipping secretary has been vacant after its secretary went on retirement on November 30, sources said.
Education Secretary NI Khan has gone to Post Retirement Leave on November 30, but none has been appointed against his position so far, added the sources.
