Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered three lakh yaba tablets from a fishing trawler at Shahpuri Dwip in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar last night.

This was the largest yaba haul at Teknaf border, BGB 42 Battalion Commanding Officer (CO) Lt Col Abu Jar al Zahid told our Cox’s Bazar correspondent.

The BGB official said the fishing trawler, coming from neighbouring Myanmar, was carrying five yaba smugglers when a team of the paramilitary force noticed it in the Naaf River.

All five smugglers dived into the water and managed to flee as the law enforcers approached the trawler, the BGB official said.

The seized yaba pills are worth around Tk 9 crore, the CO said.
