2nd batch of women cops joining UN mission
A second batch of women police will be dispatched from Dhaka tonight to join the United Nations peacekeeping mission.
The 125-member unit will fly an UN-chartered flight from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport late tonight for Congo, a press release from Bangladesh Police said.
Atia Hosna, an additional superintendent of police, has been chosen to be in-charge of the unit.
Another female unit, the first dispatched for the programme, has been serving in Haiti under the UN peacekeeping mission with skill and prestige.
Currently, 1,369 police personnel are serving in the UN peacekeeping mission in Congo, South Sudan, Darfur, Ivory Coast, Haiti, Mali, Somalia and other countries.
