Physicians worried over its low weight
The authorities of Dhaka Medical College Hospital have formed an eight-member medical board to properly treat the newborn who received bullet injuries while still in her mother's womb.
"The condition of the baby is stable, but we are worried about her low weight," Dr Khawja Abdul Gofur, assistant director (admin) of Dhaka Medical College, told The Daily Star.
The medical board comprises specialised doctors of the hospital headed by Dr Asraf Ul Huq, head of the paediatric surgery department, said Gofur. The board began treating the baby yesterday.
The newborn received bullet injuries when her eight-month pregnant mother, Nazma Khatun, was shot in the abdomen during an attack by a Magura Jubo League faction on the extended family of another rival faction Thursday afternoon.
Both the baby and the mother survived the two-hour caesarean operation at Magura General Hospital.
