Fire breaks out at Shakharibazar
A fire broke out on the first floor of a five-storey building located at Kobiraj lane of Shakkhari Bazar area in the capital this evening.
The fire was originated due to a gas cylinder explosion around 5:55pm, Abul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, told the Daily Star.
The room was being used as a factory, he added.
Five fire fighting units are working to douse the fire, fire service officials told the Daily Star.
Meanwhile, two persons with severe burn injuries were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital this evening.
Hospital sources told The Daily Star that Lipi Akhter, 25, and her one and half year old daughter Ria were critically injured in the fire at Shakharibazar.
