7 of a family burnt in gas line blast

At least seven members of a family suffered burn injuries in a fire that broke out due to gas line explosion at a house of Kalabagan in Dhaka early today.

Injured Mamataj Begum, her son Sumon, daughter-in-law Reshma and their son Rabbi, her daughter Rosy and Rosy’s children Ayon and Bithi rushed to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the hospital source said.  

Syed Monirul Islam, an inspector of Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the fire originated from a gas line around 5:25am and engulfed the whole house immediately, leaving the seven people injured critically.

On information, four firefighting units rushed to the spot and became able to douse the flame with an hour of efforts, the fire official said.
