Info sought on Evaly’s customer number, money stuck in gateways
The commerce ministry has recently asked Evaly to share information about the exact number of customers of the troubled e-commerce company and the amount of its money that is stuck up in the payment gateways.
The ministry made the call on Thursday through a letter sent to Evaly Chairman Shamima Nasrin.
The company's management was also asked to give reply to the letter by December 11, Mohammad Syed Ali, deputy secretary to the commerce ministry, told The Daily Star.
"We want to start repayment of the Evaly customers' money stuck up in payment gateways."
However, the ministry does not have in its hand any complete list of the affected Evaly customers, on which the money can be refunded.
Moreover, the ministry also needs to know how much money is stuck up, he said.
Ali said it is not decided yet when the refund of the money to the Evaly customers will begin as it depends on the availability of the list of customers and the amount of money stuck up in the gateways.
