The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has launched a new digital sub-module named "Truck Movement" under the ASYCUDA World system to electronically track the entry and exit of cargo trucks importing goods from India.

The pilot operation of the system began at Benapole Customs House on December 15, replacing the long-standing manual process used to record truck movements, said a press release today.

Under the new system, data on the arrival of Indian cargo trucks and the return of empty vehicles will be recorded electronically, enabling customs authorities to track trucks in real time and determine how long they remain within the country.

According to the NBR, the initiative will allow authorities to preserve accurate data on every Indian truck's entry and exit, monitor truck movement more effectively, and generate real-time reports to support decision-making.

The digital module will also help improve data management, prevent revenue leakage, ensure greater transparency and accountability, and play an important role in enhancing border security.

Benapole, the country's largest land port, handles a major share of Bangladesh's overland trade with India, and officials believe the system will significantly ease monitoring challenges at the busy border point.

Following the pilot phase, the NBR plans to roll out the Truck Movement sub-module at all land ports across the country in the near future.
