Bangladesh Bank Executive Director Mezbaul Haque resigns

Md Mezbaul Haque, an executive director (ED) of Bangladesh Bank, has resigned from his post, citing personal reasons.
Confirming the matter to The Daily Star, Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Areif Hossain Khan, also an ED, said Haque submitted his resignation letter to the governor of the central bank today.
Haque, a former spokesperson of the banking watchdog, was recently appointed to the Rajshahi office of Bangladesh Bank.
After the fall of the Awami League government, objections were raised at the highest levels of the interim government regarding his continuation in the position.
Haque served for a long period in the payment systems department of the central bank and was involved in various digital initiatives during the previous government's tenure.
