Amazon wants to get central bonded warehouse facility in Bangladesh
American e-commerce giant Amazon wants to get central bonded warehouse facility to enjoy tax benefit in Bangladesh as part of efforts to improve its retailing business for domestic and international markets, State Minister for Commerce Ahasanul Islam Titu said today.
Amazon wants to increase its business through procurement of goods for its global supply chain, he said.
The US company will have to face taxes and duties if it increases its business in Bangladesh, the state minister said.
This is why Amazon is seeking central bonded warehouse facility, availability of which ensures reduced tax for the company, he said.
The state minister made the comments at a press conference after a meeting with the visiting delegation of the US-Bangladesh Business Council, held at the commerce ministry in Dhaka.
The delegation members include senior representatives from the globally-renowned companies like Meta, Chevron, Coke, Boeing and many others.
