'Lockdown' could be relaxed for homebound people during Eid: Quader
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said the ongoing "lockdown" could be relaxed for homebound people during the upcoming Eid.
During a virtual briefing, he urged everyone to be mentally prepared and patient.
The minister said that they have decided to provide financial assistance to workers who became unemployed, including those in the transport sector.
Quader called upon the party leaders and activists to distribute relief among disadvantaged people.
Before the briefing, he joined another virtual programme with officials of Rangpur Road Zone BRTC and BRTA.
At the programme, he said as roads are vacant due to lockdown, it is the right time to repair them.
Quader said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is turning food-deficient Bangladesh into a food-surplus country by taking and implementing landmark decisions for the welfare of agriculture and farmers.
He called upon all leaders and activists to help farmers with harvesting like the previous year.
