Trailer: 'Stranger Things' stars Winona Ryder in 80s supernatural thriller

Strange things don't happen in the quiet American town of Hawkins, Indiana -- until they do in this trailer for Netflix's July 15 eight-episode series about a supernatural disappearance.

Set in the 1980s, Winona Ryder ("Edward Scissorhands") stars as Joyce, the mother trying to track down her missing son, with David Harbour ("Revolutionary Road") as the local law enforcement officer she has to convince.

Signposting the series as a "love letter to the supernatural classics of the 80's" means that Netflix is especially well placed to court those who were consuming said movies first-hand at the time as well as a younger generation curious to experience what once was from a modernized perspective.
