Homage to the BARD

Marking the 128th death anniversary of Fakir Lalon Shah, the most prominent figure of the country's Baul tradition, Lalon Biswasangha has organised a three-day historical exhibition titled Fakir Lalon and Fakiri Inheritance of Bangladesh at Chheuriya. The exhibition began yesterday and will run till tomorrow. Rare drawings, photographs, letters, manuscripts, books and magazines of Fakir Lalon Shah and his disciples are exhibited at the event. Fakir Lalon Shah secured a unique position in the history of traditional  folk music for his humanitarian songs, blending philosophies of different devotional traditions such as Shahajia of Buddhism, Shahajia of Vaishnavism, Sufism of Islam and several others.
