Aussie woman loses $825 after posting winning ticket on Facebook
It is unwise to post a winning ticket on social media, and someone just learnt it the hard way!
Chantelle from Perth, Australia, was so excited after winning a bet on the Melbourne Cup horse race that she shared a selfie with the winning ticket on Facebook, reports Mashable.
The Australian posed with a wide grin in the selfie holding the winning ticket, complete with the identifying barcode, to celebrate winning $825, on a horse called Prince of Penzance with 101-1 odds.
Unfortunately, a Facebook friend of her, apparently not a real-life friend, used the barcode to claim Chantelle’s winnings, making her the biggest loser in Australia now.
She later made a post in her Facebook timeline saying, “To the low life who is obviously my friend on Facebook and used my photo to claim our winnings, you ruined my day.”
