Netflix has shut down Boss Fight Entertainment, the game development studio it acquired in 2022 that created the mobile game 'Squid Game: Unleashed'. The closure was confirmed by the studio's former CEO David Rippy and other senior staff in social media posts.

According to a report by Reuters on the matter, the decision reflects a strategic shift within Netflix's gaming division. Despite the studio's closure, its two games, 'Netflix Stories' and 'Squid Game: Unleashed', will remain available on the platform.

Netflix Co-CEO Greg Peters recently highlighted the Squid Game title as an example of the narrative-driven games the company intends to produce based on its own shows.

The company's renewed gaming strategy will reportedly focus on party games, narrative titles, children's games, and mainstream genres. Netflix did not immediately comment on the studio closure, as per the report.
