India blocks 16 Pakistani YouTube channels: report

India has restricted access to 16 Pakistani YouTube channels, including major news outlets and individual creators, following the recent incident in Pahalgam, according to reports by The Hindu and Times of India.
As per the reports, the Ministry of Home Affairs of India recommended the ban, stating that the channels were spreading "provocative, communally sensitive content" and "misleading narratives" targeting India's military and security agencies.
The blocked channels include prominent Pakistani news networks such as Dawn News, ARY News, Geo News, and Samaa TV, as well as individual creators like former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar, according to the reports.
Indian viewers attempting to access these channels now see a YouTube message stating that the content is unavailable due to a government order related to "national security or public order", states the report by Times of India.
As per The Hindu, the government also raised concerns with the BBC over its coverage of the Pahalgam attack, expressing its dissatisfaction with Jackie Martin, India Head of BBC, regarding the reporting.
