A new set of iPhone 17 prototype dummies has surfaced in a leak from Sonny Dickson, a source known for reliably sharing non-functional iPhone models used by case and accessory manufacturers to prepare for upcoming releases.

The latest images align with earlier design renders and suggest that Apple is set to introduce a unified camera bump across most models in the iPhone 17 lineup, with the exception of the standard version.

The leak follows earlier CAD renders shared by leaker Majin Bu, which allegedly depicted four models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the rumoured iPhone 17 Air. The latter three appear to feature a rectangular camera bar reminiscent of Google's Pixel design.

However, the newly surfaced dummies by Sonny Dickson provide a closer look at the iPhone 17 Air, showing a notably thinner profile compared to the other models, which now appear relatively thicker by contrast.

Industry reports suggest that the iPhone 17 Air will feature a 6.6-inch display, placing it between the 6.3-inch iPhone 16 Pro and 6.9-inch iPhone 16 Pro Max. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, in his latest Power On newsletter, confirms this detail, adding that Apple had initially considered a 6.9-inch variant but abandoned the idea over concerns that a larger, ultra-thin device could be prone to bending. Gurman states that the 17 Air will incorporate slim bezels, a Dynamic Island cutout, and a Camera Control button, details seemingly supported by Dickson's leaked dummies.

The iPhone 17 Air is expected to be 5.5mm thick, making it one of the thinnest iPhones ever produced. The device will feature a single rear camera, similar to the iPhone 16E, while blending high-end and mid-range specifications. It is rumoured to include a 120Hz ProMotion display but will run on a standard A19 chip instead of the A19 Pro. Despite its slim form factor, Gurman claims the battery life will be comparable to other iPhones. The device is projected to retail for around $900, similar to the current iPhone 16 Plus pricing.

If the iPhone 17 Air proves successful, Apple is reportedly considering more ambitious expansions, including the possibility of making it the first port-free iPhone. Additionally, the thin design approach could extend to other models in future releases.

Apple is also said to be using manufacturing techniques from the 17 Air to develop its first foldable iPhone, anticipated for release by 2026. Reports suggest that this foldable device would resemble Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold, but with a less visible crease.

While these leaks provide an early look at Apple's potential design direction, they remain unconfirmed. Apple is expected to officially unveil the iPhone 17 lineup in September, at which point the final design and specifications will be confirmed.
