The Election Commission has decided to register the National Citizen Party and Bangladesh Jatiya League as political parties, said senior secretary Akhtar Ahmed yesterday.
The National Citizen Party, along with 143 others, failed to pass the preliminary scrutiny of the Election Commission for registration.
The EC began accepting applications for new party registrations on March 10
Protesting the Election Commission's decision to not give registration to the party, a faction took up position after police obstructed their march towards the EC office.
