Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has carried out a special mosquito control and cleanliness drive, deploying a team of 500 mosquito control and sanitation workers.

Anti-mosquito drives have either remained completely suspended in some areas or been slowed down since the recent unrest in the country centring the quota reform protests.

Experts have raised questions about a recent foreign trip by four government officials and a ward councillor to Germany to acquire skills in operating mosquito fogging machines.

The country has already seen the death of 12 dengue patients before the beginning of the monsoon, while 1,261 others were hospitalised till yesterday. The numbers indicate alarming signs of a massive dengue outbreak this year.
