Undoubtedly, it will be a historic moment for Papua New Guinea when they will step on to play T20 World Cup co-hosts Oman in the opener on October 17 in Muscat as they will be making their ICC global tournament debut. They made it to the group stages of the marquee event by winning five of their six group matches at the T20 World Cup Qualifier in 2019. Led by Assad Vala, PNG will have their hopes pinned on Tony Pala Ura, touted as 'the heart and soul of Papua New Guinean cricket'. Although far-fetched, PNG's bold dream would be to announce themselves onto the big stage by sealing a spot in the Super 12.
