Children rejoice in chocolate: 3rd Space celebrates International Chocolate Day
Magic tricks, an art competition, games, Piniata, alongside layers and layers of chocolate: this would be a dream scenario for me when I was still a child. With very few recreational things for children to do in Dhaka, 3rd Space's celebration of International Chocolate Day yesterday was a welcome one. Children of all ages were exceptionally enthusiastic throughout the event, which was adorned by all kinds of chocolate imaginable.
"We always try to think of new things to offer," says Tahsin Hossain, a co-owner of 3rd Space. "We have latin dance classes specifically geared towards children, and thought it would be a blast for them to actually get to celebrate International Chocolate Day." One of the event's main attractions was the magic show, which both children and adults enjoyed. The smashing of the Piniata showered a cascade of candy on the excited children as they went back and forth to pick them up with glee.
As the day rolled on, more children dragged their parents to the event. Even though some of the guardians were reluctant at first, they warmed up to it after getting a taste of the celebration. A reprieve from regular days consisting of school, homework and video games was a refreshing experience for the kids, one that they would not forget any time soon.
