UAP closed indefinitely amid protests; two faculty members dismissed
The University of Asia Pacific (UAP) has been closed indefinitely following student protests over allegations of "hurting religious sentiments," which led to the dismissal of two faculty members.
According to a university notice issued on 18 January, Assistant Professor Layeka Bashir and Associate Professor Dr A.S.M. Mohsin of the Basic Science and Humanities Department were terminated from their positions. While the dismissed teachers alleged they were not given the opportunity to defend themselves, the university authorities maintained that there were prior complaints against them.
