For the joy of reading The Daily Star
Pledge Harbour International School in Dhaka recently included the reading of The Daily Star newspaper in its curriculum for the students.
The students begin their day with a reading session of The Daily Star in the morning. In the assembly, they are introduced to new words published in the newspaper’s stories.
After the classes end every day, the students take part in interesting quizzes based on their reading of the newspaper that day.
They also take part in a 10-minute session every day where they rewrite a story published on that day’s edition.
“This practice is enriching the vocabulary of the students and helping them in their sentence development. This is also enhancing the development of their thoughts significantly,” said Adnan Chowdhury, vice principal of the school.
“This is not only enhancing their skills in learning English but is also giving them a good idea about the contemporary national and international issues,” he added.
