Habiba leads charge as U19s bounce back against Pakistan

Pacer Habiba Islam Pinky delivered a standout performance as the Bangladesh Women's U-19 team defeated Pakistan by three wickets in the second match of the ongoing five-match T20 series at the Cox's Bazar Academy Ground on Friday.

With the victory, the junior Tigresses levelled the series 1-1, having lost the opening match by 13 runs at the same venue on Wednesday.

Habiba was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4 for 17 in her four overs. Otoshi Mojumder and Jarin Tasnim Labonno took one wicket each as Bangladesh restricted Pakistan to 80 for 7 in 20 overs after the visitors opted to bat first.

For Pakistan, Komal Khan top-scored with 28, while Zoofishan Ayyaz and Ravail Farhan contributed 17 and 15 respectively.

In reply, Bangladesh opener Sumaiya Akter scored 32 off 38 balls, while Sadia Akter remained unbeaten on 13 off 10 to guide the hosts to 81 for 7 in 19 overs, sealing the win and pulling the series level.

Alessa Mukhtiar and Memoona Khalid picked up two wickets apiece for Pakistan.

The third match of the series will be played at the same venue on Sunday.
