Taskin to be ready for 2nd bowling test in 6 weeks

Bangladesh bowling coach Heath Streak believes that pacer Taskin Ahmed will be ready to attempt his second bowling test in an ICC-accredited center within six weeks time.

Streak, who has been working with Taskin since yesterday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, told reporters today that Taskin would go on to pass the second test and return to international cricket.

“Because we have not got any international cricket in the next few months, I think we can get his test done within one month to six weeks. We just need to be hundred percent sure before we send him. I do not think it is a major problem,” Streak said.

“Hopefully he will get comfortable with some of the modifications I asked him to make. He will take the test when he is comfortable,” he added.

A youngster, Taskin Ahmed has been one of the pillars who has brought about the pace revolution in the spin-den of Bangladesh’s national cricket team.

On March 19, ICC banned Taskin and a spinner Arafat Sunny for their bowling action at a time when the team was competing at the Twenty20 World Cup in India.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on March 21 decided to move a “review” appeal to the International Cricket Council (ICC) to reconsider pacer Taskin’s suspension from bowling in international cricket.

The ICC announced on March 23 that Taskin's suspension from bowling in international cricket was upheld following a review hearing conducted by a judicial commissioner.

The ban drew flak from Bangladesh cricket supporters who have expressed their bitter opinions in social media.
